Ferries
Major internal passenger ferry services are provided by one franchised (Star Ferry Company Ltd) and fourteen licensed ferry operators. Ferries are a relatively accessible transport mode for disabled especially wheelchair users. Call bells are installed at entrances of most ferry piers. Anti-skid gangplanks and grooves on the landing ramps are provided to facilitate the movement of wheelchairs. Except for hover ferries and ferries berthing alongside pontoons and public landing steps, wheelchair users can gain access from the pier to the vessel without much difficulty. Space for wheelchair is available on most ferry vessels. The lower deck of vessels is more accessible than the upper deck as passengers need not negotiate with any steps.
