Hong Kong lies just south of the Tropic of Cancer - on almost the same latitude as Hawaii and Calcutta. It enjoys a combination of sub-tropical and temperate weather throughout the year. Winter brings cool, dry weather with many bright days, while during the summer - the monsoon season, the weather is warm and humid, and rainstorms can be expected. Between July and September is the most likely time for typhoons. There are five levels of tropical cyclone warning starting with 1 (the lowest and least intense) through 3, 8, 9 to 10 (the highest and most critical). Airport Express and MTR train service remains normal when tropical cyclone signal 1 and 3 is hoisted. For the signal 8 or above, Airport Express and MTR underground should still be running but to a limited schedule (arrangement subject to actual situation). For the latest weather information of Hong Kong, please visit the web site of Hong Kong Observatory. | |
